Boutique Software Design and Development

We're a boutique software house capable of producing anything from large scale websites, developing novel pieces of software art the likes of which are exhibited at MoMA, to engineering more traditional database systems.

Platform agnostic, Everita is happy to develop for Linux, Mac and Windows using the tools and languages most suited to the task. Our bookshelf offers a loose idea of the technology we've so far embraced and an indication as to why we consider ourselves a multi-disciplinary consultancy.

iPhone Development

With the experience garnered developing the successful Tipu's iTiger, and with our own projects destined for the Apple's App Store, we're well placed to undertake iPhone development. Our latest projects are already beginning to utilise the latest possibilities offered by the iPhone 3GS, notably augmented reality. » More details

Interactive Art and Physical Computing

The projects we've taken on are wildly varied. So much so that the only thing they seemingly have in common is a computer and a client with a vision. And that's how we like it. The point being we'll not be fazed by something new or improbable and are happy to offer anything from mere direction to helping bring your project to fruition.

Web Development

We've developed a number of high-performance LAMP based websites that rely on complex business logic, most recently based upon Drupal. We continue to specialise in producing websites for academic publishers.

Content Management Systems (CMS)

Everita's first projects involved the design and development of vast bespoke content management systems. We're highly experienced in leveraging technologies, for example Drupal, that provide you with complete control of your web content.

Database Systems

The system we built for The Military Balance is our most advanced to date. Essentially an inventory of the world's armed forces it benefited from our UnoDB system which allowed us to build a prototype system in a matter of weeks where previous attempts using more traditional methods had failed.

While The Military Balance is comparatively small, informaworld is a website that delivers 900 journals and nearly 20,000 books electronically — that's over a million articles — and serves an estimated 150,000 users every day.

UnoDB

Both of these systems run Everita's own in-house developed UnoDB database system. Running as a layer atop of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server it could be described as being somewhere between a triplestore and an object database.

It allows for rapid development and was built on the premise that requirements change. UnoDB's power comes from being able to describe relationships between data using trees and hierarchies, something that — in our opinion — is somewhat contrived using traditional SQL methods.

Academic Publishing

Everita began life as a specialist in developing websites for academic publishers. Its founders having previously worked for Catchword — the highly successful e-journal hosting service provider — which later became Ingenta plc. We developed informaworld and a spin-off Routledge ABES for Taylor & Francis.

These sites are characterised by having complex access control requirements, something we have a wealth of experience in developing. Due to the sheer volume of content that these sites deliver we're also specialists in loading data, usually in the form of XML. And are versed in the vagaries of academic content.

Hosting

Servers connected directly to Telehouse North and East allow us to offer a managed web hosting service to our clients. We're happy to design resilient systems for busy e-commerce sites or complex online applications.
